Expectations
Visitors to our school will see that we have very high expectations of students and this is evident as you walk around. You will see students in lessons getting on with their work, wearing the Wyvern uniform and being positive to one another. That sums up our one main rule, which is ‘think of the other person’.
So, we expect students to consider others around them in all that they do in and out of school. We expect students to conform to the simple uniform, behaviour and punctuality rules and we expect students to work hard at ‘being their best’ in all that they do.
We reward students for positive work and behaviour through our points system. Students gain positive points for good work and actions which they can then cash in at the rewards shop for various prizes. If students make the wrong choices they will be given negative points which lead to various sanctions such as detentions.
Bullying is dealt with very quickly and effectively as long as we know about it. Students have a variety of ways to tell someone about it, either directly to a teacher or tutor or one of the many support staff; or anonymously using the bully-box in the library. We also have teams of students trained as ‘peer mentors’ who are good at listening to students’ problems.
