Uniform and kit
We have a very simple and easy to follow uniform policy. We expect all students to follow this and to come to school each morning dressed correctly. In all queries, the Headteacher’s decision is final.
• A burgundy sweatshirt to be worn with school logo.
No other garment is to be worn over a shirt in the place of a sweatshirt.
• A collared polo shirt with or without school logo.
• Black trousers or knee length skirt (no pinstripes).
• Black conventional shoes.
(Black daps will be provided for students who do not wear black shoes.)
• Black socks.
• Make-up should not be worn to school.
Where it is obvious wipes will be provided to remove it.
• No nose or eyebrow or other facial piercings.
(These could be confiscated for the day by teachers.)
No more than one ring on each hand. Small studs or hoops in ear lobes are acceptable.
• Hairstyles should not include any bright/unnatural colouring and no designs are allowed
to be shaved into hair.
• Denim is not allowed.
There will be a requirement, on health and safety grounds, for all jewellery to be removed in PE and sometimes in Technology, at the direction of the teacher.
Coats and other non-uniform items will be removed on entry to assemblies and lessons. Students should not need to be reminded to do this.
Tutors and Year Leaders will carry out uniform checks. If students are found not to be complying with the uniform policy they may be given correct uniform to wear, provided by the school for the day. Alternatively they may be removed from lessons and placed in the Internal Exclusion Room.
We sometimes hold non-uniform days as a way of raising funds for charity and school. We still expect students to make sensible choices about what they wear on those days. We may send students home to change if logos, words or phrases on clothing are not appropriate.
PE Kit
We are proud of our status as a Sports College and we have high expectations and standards in our PE kit.
Compulsory for Boys and Girls (unless otherwise stated)
• Burgundy rugby shirt (reversible white stripe)
• Burgundy polo shirt
• Burgundy socks
• Navy blue shorts (or navy blue skorts - girls only)
• Football/rugby boots (boys only, but girls may have them if they attend rugby and football
clubs)
• Trainers
• Shin pads for football and hockey
• Gum shield recommended for rugby (consult your dentist for the best advice)
Optional for Boys and Girls
• Base layer
• Tracksuit trousers (plain navy or black)
All studs should be regularly checked to see if they are dangerous.
NB It is essential that all compulsory kit is purchased. No items of normal school dress should be worn. Under no circumstances is jewellery allowed to be worn when taking part in PE. It is unacceptable to cover up piercings, students will be asked to remove them. In Key Stage 3 all students excused from PE must still wear their PE kit.
