We recently learned that our plans to open a new building to accomodate Hans Price Academy in 2013 are now "under discussion" having been told earlier in the year that we had funding allocation that had been agreed. We will not learn the outcome of this until the end of July at the earliest.

This news has a number of implications for the funding of the new Academy and in order to ensure that we make the best start possible to the new Academy, we have taken the decision to delay opening until 2010-11 in order to continue our discussions with the Department for Education and the coalition government with the aim of achieving the outcomes we feel are necessary to provide the best education for the students who will attend Hans Price Academy.

The Cabot Learning Federation, Armando di Finizio who will be the Principal of the Academy and I are as committed as ever to making this project work and we are grateful to North Somerset LA and the staff and governors at Wyvern Community School for their support and understanding of the position we find ourselves in. Communicating the correct message to the local community is a big priority so that the information people have is both accurate and reliable. We will ensure that as news of progress towards opening the Academy reaches us we will pass this on to parents and other members of the local community through this website as well as the website of the Cabot Learning Federation(www.cabotlearningfederation.net ).
